Scottish Borders Exporters Association Programme 2013-2014 (Past Events) (11)
It appears the recession is now behind us and as the economy grows opportunities for increased business and new markets will develop. The question is how to meet the challenge of growing the business and the additional demands this makes on production or services? Answer, we have to examine all aspects of the business, become more efficient and probably employ additional staff. This meeting will address the various processes involved in growing your business.
Derek Cameron has kindly invited members of the Exporters Association to visit Scotmas, the world leading designers and manufacturers of Chlorine Dioxide products and Water Treatment Dosing Systems. Scotmas also produces a vast array of Hygiene products, to help maintain a sterile, disinfected work area in any industry.
At various times we all work with SDI, SBC and the Business Gateway, but what support do they actually offer to exporters? At the event we will hear about the latest products and funding available from all three organisations.
Ireland is one of our closest neighbours and a significant importer of products and services from Scotland. This event will seek to establish if Ireland is recovering from the recession and what opportunities exist for exports from the Scottish Borders.
Note - This is a Tuesday evening, not our usual Thursday. Once again we go to The Restaurant at Borders College for our Christmas Dinner where we will once again enjoy the excellent cuisine provided by the trainee chefs. After dinner we will be entertained by that well known raconteur from Hawick, Ian Landles.
At this event we will discuss the importance of communicating accurately and directly with your customer. This might be by learning to speak their language, using Google translation, or using a reliable organisation to handle your translations and verbal communications.
In September last year Norma Foster gave us a brief insight into the Export Communication Review. Since then a number of Association members have participated in a communication review and the feed-back has been excellent. As a result we have invited Norma back to give us a masterclass on Web Optimisation for International Trade.
This meeting is a follow-up to the first Homecoming meeting held on 30th May. The committee has considered all of the suggestions and will bring forward a number of proposals as to how we can benefit from involvement in the Homecoming 2104. Scotmas produce a vast array of Hygiene products, to help maintain a sterile, disinfected work area in any industry.
This workshop will address how we can benefit from Google Adwords. We ran a similar workshop a number of years ago and we will invite members who participated then to tell us how their business has benefitted form using Adwords.
