Improve your Marketing and Image

Thursday, 27 November 2014 18:30
Good marketing techniques and a strong brand image go a long way to ensuring success in exporting. This meeting will address how you can increase sales in existing markets and establish you products in a new market by making improvements in both of these areas.

Two well established Borders firms, Martinshouse and Brand Satellite, will lead us through the processes of improving our marketing and brand image and this will be followed by case studies from members companies EBS and Eribe Knitwear Design.

Our first speaker is George Turnbull of Martinshouse, a company that has been working successfully with Scottish Borders firms since 1980. Martinshouse won the Scottish Marketing Award for their work with Glenmuir and at one time placed more advertising in golf publications than any other agency in the UK. The company is known for assisting small businesses face the challenge of winning new business with limited resources. George will draw on his experience and expertise to lead us through various marketing techniques that lead to more enquiries, sales and profit.

Our Second speaker is Giles Etherington of Brand Satellite, a brand consultancy and integrated advertising and design agency. Giles has over twenty five years’ experience in this particular area, much of which has been with some of the world’s biggest and best advertising agencies inLondon, San Francisco and Amsterdam. The agencies include JWT, Saatchi & Saatchi, HHCL and Euro RSCG. Giles has been lucky enough to work on some of the world’s most recognized brands: Andrex, BT, Esso, Heineken, Kellogg’s, Nestle, Persil, Volvo, to name but a few. His credits include work on many famous advertising campaigns: the Maureen Lipman Beattie campaign for BT, the Andrex puppy, the Esso tiger, plus Snap, Crackle & Pop and Tony the Tiger for Kellogg’s Rice Krispies and Kellogg’s Frosties respectively.

Two very appropriate cases studies will follow the main presentations.

Michael Rutherford will tell about his recent work on brand development at EBS and Rosy Eribe will take us through how Eribe Knitwear Design go about marketing the company when entering a new market.

As usual, Scottish Borders Exporters Association events are open to anyone whether they are involved in international trade or not. Manufacturers, IT, designers, service providers, everyone is welcome. The presentations will be followed by a finger buffet giving everyone the opportunity to exchange views and news with the speakers, members and guests. We look forward to welcoming you.
