"Slow-wear" proves fashion is changing tact

Monday, 25 April 2011 00:00

ERIBÉ Knitwear Design is celebrating their best year ever despite doom and gloom and continued stiff competition. Why?

In the fashion capitals of the world "slow-wear" is the new buzz word and buyers swarmed round the ERIBÉ exhibition in New York, Glasgow, Paris and Milan. They were looking at a modernized version of Scottish heritage- inspired knitting and enjoying the return of beautiful colour combinations, handle and quality. The fashionable garments are termed "slow-wear" because although they follow trends, the garments and accessories can be worn for years and still look good and in keeping with the times. These are the new timeless classics!

ERIBÉ have recently won two separate awards: International Trader of the Year and Best Product Award for their modernized design of the classic Fairisle Yoke pattern that was originally knitted by hand on the Islands of Shetland.

Rosemary Eribé commented, "we are so excited by the reaction of buyers from all over the world to our Scottish knitwear collection, they really appreciate our heritage, design, colours and quality. Now it is important that we all recognize the importance of spinning, knitting and manufacturing in Scotland. With customers and suppliers all working together we can continue to increase productivity again in Scotland.

The united effort of the various promotional activities that happen within all Scottish sectors does help the country be recognized as a centre of excellence. That must surely be our common goal!"
