Club members exhibit in Prato, Italy (29/02/2004)

Lochcarron of Scotland have won a textile museum design award in Prato, Italy, and, with fellow Export Club member Eribe Knitwear, participated in the Christmas market in Prato.

LOCHCARRON ITALIAN CHRISTMAS PRESENT

Lochcarron’s design team took part in a competition to create a tartan to launch the opening of a textile museum in the heart of Italy’s textile industry at Prato in Italy. This was organised in conjunction of the Scottish Tartan Authority who helped to arrange the opening exhibition for the museum which featured Scottish tartans.

As their submission proved to be the winner, the Lochcarron sales team accepted an invitation to take part in the Prato Christmas market featuring various articles in the new ‘MacPrato’ design.

The exhibition will run on through the winter months depicting the history of Scottish tartan and it’s continuing popularity throughout the world.

PRATO CHRISTMAS MARKET

As there was a strong Scottish theme at the market, it was encouraging that in spite of the timing being the week before Christmas, two members of the Scottish Borders Export Club were able to take part, the other member being Eribe Knitwear.

The visit fortunately proved most successful  both in sales and P.R. with the high quality woollens from both companies being well received by the Italian public.
