ISETAN CELEBRATE WITH TARTAN Oct 2003
Through LOCHCARRON’S many years of promotion and marketing in Japan it was gratifying to be approached by the major department store Isetan in Tokyo who wished to celebrate their 70th anniversary with a tartan fair.
This resulted in a spectacular promotion where their whole top floor was dedicated to a tartan display, with clothing items created from LOCHCARRON tartans by fashion icons such as Vivienne Westwood, Jimmy Choo, Minagawa from Japan, Pringles and of course LOCHCARRON of SCOTLAND. Many of Isetan’s other suppliers who were also LOCHCARRON’S customers also joined the fun on the top floor.
LOCHCARRON also laid on a kilt making demonstration by their top kilt maker from Lochcarron Canada
Scottish Enterprise & Deputy First Minister, Jim Wallace attended the launch. While the Queens Piper entertained the customers with tunes and tales of life at Buckingham Palace.
The Tartan Fair was also recognised by a British Embassy reception in the presence of The Deputy First Minister and Lochcarron’s representatives.
The Fair’s timing coincided with St Andrew’s Day, which is a major British celebration in Tokyo with a well attended Banquet, and Ball jointly sponsored on this occasion by Lochcarron, Virgin & Dyson. Entertainment by the Tokyo Pipe Band, The Queen’s Piper, The Tokyo Bluebell Highland Dancers, and a Ceilidh Band.
