October 2003 Workshop (16/10/2003)

How do Environmental regulations effect your company

Scottish Borders Export Club
WORKSHOP

Thursday, 30th October 2003, from 3.30 - 5.30 p.m..

Venue : George & Abbotsford Hotel, Melrose

How do Environmental Regulations effect your company?

Do you know that in some European countries you are responsible for the environmental recovery, or disposal, of packaging after the customer has taken delivery? And, there are organisations who, for a small fee, specialise in such environmental disposals.

The EU has been drawing up environmental regulations for many years, and not only for packaging; manufacturing processes, transport, and many other issues will be covered by these regulations. Eventually all businesses will have to consider the environment in every day decisions. Are you aware of how these EU regulations currently, or potentially, effect your business? You need to be.

Our presenter at this Workshop, Claire Smith, is well placed to advise us on the ever changing environment regulations. A Senior Policy Advisor with the Scottish Executive, Claire’s main area of responsibility includes Technical Textiles and Environmental Legislation. She is currently seconded to Scottish Enterprise Textiles cluster team.

We may be fortunate to have a second, and very notable presenter, Veronica Watt, the Scottish Executive environmental representative in Brussels. At the time of writing Veronica’s participation cannot be confirmed but, we are hopeful her diary will change and she can come along to address us  on current environmental regulations, and other issues being considered by Brussels.

This promises to be a very interesting and informative afternoon. Please let Robin Ross know by Tuesday 28th October if you will attend the Workshop - contact details below.

Scottish Borders Export Club events are open to anyone with an interest in exporting, everyone is welcome - manufacturers, designers, or service providers - be they members or not.
